Designing the new Neurodevelopmental Pathway in Shropshire

19/02/2021

As part of the Shropshire Written Statement of Action, services, parent carers and young people with SEND are being asked to work together to design a new Neurodevelopmental diagnosis and support pathway. This will include the diagnosis of conditions such as Autism and ADHD and will cover the provision of both pre- and post-diagnosis support.

The SEND inspection recognised that families who need this type of service were not being well supported in Shropshire, which was causing distress for both parent carers and young people and leading to poorer outcomes for this group. Families and PACC shared feedback about where this provision wasn’t working and what needed to change. We now need to work together to create a pathway that will provide assessments and support in a timely and effective way.

The Council For Disabled Children are supporting this work in Shropshire and have worked with PACC, Shropshire Council and the Clinical Commissioning Group to plan two online workshops as part of this process.  Parent carers are invited to attend, along with schools and other practitioners to share their thoughts on what this pathway needs to look like.  If you would like to contribute to this work please book your place as soon as possible using the link below.  The two workshops lead on from each other and so you will get the most out of this opportunity if you can attend both.  The agenda for the first workshop can be viewed here.
