Multi Disciplinary Assessment Engagement Session for Parent Carers

24/02/2021

Many children go through the Multi-Disciplinary Assessment (MDA) process of either a short or full assessment of their needs before the age of 6. This helps identify what help from health, education, and social care a child will need in their early years and through school. Usually children who can access an MDA have complex needs such as communication and interaction problems, physical disability, delay in their development, severe co-ordination problems, or sensory impairments such as vision or hearing.

The Child Development Centre (CDC) team are looking to find better ways to describe the process of the Multi-Disciplinary Assessment, with a view to producing some simple and clear materials that help families prepare for the experience of attending with their child. This could result in improved information for the Local Offer and Shropshire Community Health Trust websites, leaflets, letters, and possibly videos and materials to help a child prepare for their experience of the assessment and know what to expect at the CDC.

If you have been through this process, and going through it at the moment, or feel you could contribute to this discussion, please register for the engagement session we are holding with CDC staff as below.

Thursday 4th March 10.30am-12pm
