Shropshire EHCP Team Update

PACC has been asked by the Shropshire Education Health and Care Team to share an update for Shropshire SEND Families on the Teams growth plan.  PACC has worked closely with local SEND Leaders to share the concerns raised by the Shropshire SEND community about delays in the EHCP process and the impact this was having on children, young people and families. We have also raised the need for a focus on improved communication about this issue.

This update provides information about increased investment in the EHCP Team to address delays and an acknowledgement that improvements are needed. It also recognises the need to work in partnership with SEND families to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people with SEND

Update: Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Team Growth Model

Parent Carer Update from Shropshire Council

April 2026

We are making changes to our team so we can better support children and young people who need help. We’re planning carefully to make sure our team is able to meet your child/ young person’s needs and work well with schools and other partners.

We realise that we haven’t always been able to finish EHCPs on time recently, and we are very sorry if this has caused worry or delays for you and your family. We are now focused on getting back on track, and we’re working hard to make sure we meet all deadlines and improve how we do things. Our aim is to provide a reliable and efficient service for all families as we move forward.

Our growth plan means we are adding more people to our team, offering better training, and making sure we can respond quickly to children/ young people’s needs. We also want to work closely with schools and other partners, so we can tackle problems together and give the best possible support to your children/ young people.

Below, you’ll see how our team will be set up. We hope to have all positions filled and ready to start in September.

While we get the new team ready, we’ve brought in extra staff to help us catch up with overdue EHCP needs assessments and Annual Reviews. We expect to have these caught up by the end of October 2026.

Our main team will be focusing on new requests and Annual Reviews, and we aim to complete at least 85% of these on time, which matches the national average.

We know that working together is key to success. By sharing knowledge and keeping in touch with you and our partners, we hope to create the best outcomes for your children/ young people and family.

We look forward to working closely with you as we grow and improve our services. We’ll share more details soon, including timelines and ways you can give feedback. If you have any questions or want to talk about our plans, please contact the EHCP Team—we’re here to help.
