Summer Contacts for families in crisis

 

PACC staff work term-time only, which means we are out of office until Wednesday 3rd September. We understand that the summer holidays can be a very challenging and stressful time, and families often struggle to know where to get help.

Below are some useful contact numbers and websites.

If you need someone to talk to
  • Samaritans – Available 24 hours a day if you’re feeling overwhelmed or struggling to cope. Call 116 123 (free).
  • Shout – Free, confidential text support 24/7. Text SHOUT to 85258.
  • NHS 111 – For urgent physical or mental health advice when it isn’t an emergency. If needed, they can refer you to local crisis services.
  • Mind – Local Mind services often offer wellbeing support, peer groups and information.
  • YoungMinds Parents Helpline- Children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing support for parents carers- 0808 802 5544
SEND-specific support
  • Contact – A national charity supporting families with disabled children. They provide a free helpline, advice on benefits, education, caring and family life.
  • IPSEA – Free independent advice on EHCPs, school issues and SEND law.
  • National Autistic Society – Information, online advice and local branches.
  • Scope – Advice on disability, benefits and independent living.
If you are in crisis

  • Mental Health– If you are experiencing something that makes you feel unsafe, distressed, or worried about your mental health, or if you are worried about someone’s mental health: Call NHS 111 and select the mental health option (option 2) Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust Freephone 24/7 urgent NHS Mental Health Helpline – 0808 196 4501. Text STW to 85258 to receive support for your mental health at any time of the day or night
Call 999 straight away if:
  • You think someone’s life is in danger.
  • Someone has seriously injured themselves or is at immediate risk of harm.
  • Someone is behaving in a way that puts themselves or other people at immediate risk.
  • You need urgent emergency help from an ambulance or the police.
