Mad, Sad, Glad Report 2025

30/04/2025

Our latest Mad, Sad, Glad report reflects on the feedback Parent Carers across Shropshire have provided. This years report is unsurprisingly hard to read. Many families are experiencing difficulties and these are often not single isolated issues, but a complex collection of concerns and needs that are increasing the frustrations felt by families.

Waiting lists, poor communication, the feeling of a need to fight for help, limited support, and a lack of understanding in staff/practitioners are all concerns that make Parent Carers Mad in this years report.

Not understanding the experiences and challenges faced by Parent Carers, poor support for families, the future and limited opportunities, impact on relationships and employment all make Parent Carers Sad.

Community support opportunities, activities and friendships, improvements in care and support in specific environments are all making Parent Carers Glad, alongside their amazing children.

This year we also asked what could be done to improve Parent Carer experiences. Working with and communicating better with Parent Carers, Practitioners and Services executing the legal duties more effectively and in line with the law, and improving the quality of EHCPs and their delivery are some examples of the responses shared with us.
