Short Break Survey for Young People on the Autistic Spectrum

PACC are working with AWM to gather data on how the Shropshire Short Breaks programme is meeting the needs of older young people on the Autistic spectrum. We have developed a on-line survey that can be accessed on the link below. If you would prefer a hard copy of the survey please do get in touch. The survey is aimed at those aged 11 and upwards and is looking to understand the what works and what doesn't work for this group as well as identifying the benefits of short breaks for this group and the impact of not accessing short breaks.

Health Reforms - Any Qualified Provider

AQP is a new way of delivering health services that aims to provide greater choice to the people who use them. This process is being rollout across the country focusing on certain services only. AQP means that any organisation that can meet set standards for a particular service can be approved to deliver the service and be NHS funded. It is a similar model to that currently used to deliver dental and optician services for example and it is intended that it will encourage a greater number of small providers into the market. Recently Wheelchair Services have been identified in Shropshire to be considered for AQP. It is a complicated process with many things to consider and PACC are working with Shropshire PCT to explore what this would mean for local service users. As a first step PACC would like to identify a group of families who support a wheelchair user and who would be willing to share their experiences to inform this work. If you would be interested in part of this group please contact PACC on the details above.

Shropshire Disability Services 0-25 Project

As part of this project Shropshire Council would like to meet with parent carers to understand how effective disability services are in meeting their needs. Mel France and Arren Roberts of Business Services have provided some information on the attached flyer about the sort of issues they would like to discuss with parent carers. They are interested in talking to any families of children who have a Statement of Special Education Needs who are either in mainstream school or a specialist setting. Mel and Arren have already met with a group of PACC parents, which was a very productive meeting and PACC have been involved in the 0-25 project from the initial meeting. Families input into this project is now essential to achieve improvements in service delivery for children with disabilities or additional needs in Shropshire, please get in touch.
